written resources non-fiction, fiction,
poetry, manuals or other manuscripts
that make a difference in readers' lives.

To provide affordable, alternative services
for publishing books by authors who have
meaningful contributions to make to the
human community.

To publish high quality materials that
stretch understanding, cultivate skills,
invite reflection, make us laugh, dare us
to grow, and challenge our capacities to
leave the world better than we found it.

To help authors put their books in the
hands of readers who need, want, would
feel challenged by or would benefit
from what others have learned, written
and now published.

WHY?

Some writers are born with a natural urge
to put ink to paper. We can easily imagine
a quill pen in the tiny fist of some
once-diapered, now famous novelist.
Other authors are delivered to the writer's
challenge through life's experiences,
either professional or personal -
compelling experiences that invite them
to share what they have gleaned from
their own unfolding stories, because they
instinctively know that it could make a
difference in someone else's life.
How ever we come to the passion for words,
the call to formulate ideas in print,
there is no more critical turnstile for
fulfillment than actually being published.

Tales of woe from both established authors
and authors-to-be about the barriers and
pitfalls of mainstream publishing are
legendary and need no documentation here.

Acorn Publishing is an alternative publisher
offering affordable services to help writers
of quality materials break through the
barrage of publishing barriers to put
their works in print. We are writers
ourselves. We represent teachers,
administrators, dreamers, academics,
parents, psychologists, social workers,
poets and other writers.

We have come to the publishing table
with the humility of a small acorn
and the conviction of a seasoned oak.

First, there are thousands of high quality manuscripts
—not to mention ideas—
that should be published, because their
content is worthy and their authors
deserving of recognition.

Secondly, there are countless arenas of
human need both within and beyond the
boundaries of our own communities that
could be better matched to resources.
Cross-fertilizing ideas through books
and the dissemination of stories and
information is one very effective way
of addressing needs and nourishing
the human community.

Thirdly, the amazing technology afforded
by electronics, the internet and printing
innovations have made it feasible to
better meet the needs of both authors
and readers through new publishing mechanisms.
Acorn Publishing works hard to be an
